Modeselektor x Thom Yorke = "Shipwreck"

Magnetic had a chance to catch up with Gernot (1/2 of Modeselektor) via Skype in his Berlin home a little while back. We got to the bottom of the finer points of DJ perks, how much he hates post punk and what it’s like to be buddies with one of the most influential musicians of our time. That would be Thom Yorke I’m referring to. Have a read here. And watch the new video for “Shipwreck,” a collaboration between Modeselektor and Thom Yorke, here.
The trio wrote that track and Monkeytown’s “This” during a one-day session at Modeselektor’s studio in Berlin. Look for the single on November 4th. And you can pick up “Shipwreck” here.

The video, directed by Tony T. Datis, premiered last week via NPR’s All Songs Considered blog “First Watch” series. The abandoned boy and his fight for survival in a post apocalyptic world translates the whole mood of the track into a dark, but still hopeful vision. 1 point Datis.
