Pretty Lights Music Tour Heads West With Gramatik + Michal Menert

Derek Vincent Smith (Pretty Lights) is finally allowing his label mates on Pretty Lights Music to invade the west coast. We’re definitely up for some solid bangers and head nodding music. The tour consists of a full bill of artists on Pretty Lights Music including Gramatik, Michal Menert along with special guest Supervision. Although Menert is a co-headliner on the tour, the fact that he’s switching out nights with Gramatik for the closing set kinda makes it seem that Gramatik is the headliner of the show. We’re not complaining about that one bit. If you aren’t familiar with Gramatik’s music, here’s the rundown. This summer he spent time playing festivals in the States including Electric Zoo, Northcoast Music Festival and the Big Up. Plus, he celebrated his performance in front of 10,000 people along side of Pretty Lights in Red Rocks. While performing sets throughout the summer, Gramatik released Beatz Pieces Volume 1, a collection of solely beats that carry a heavy influence of hip-hop but exceed the boundaries of technique and style, which you can download here. And if you have heard his badass remix of The Gossip’s “Dimestore Diamond” or his “Princes Of The Glitch Universe” mash up, we highly recommend it.

Despite the fact he specializes in dubstep to electro, his massive influence with hip-hop transcends through his style with dubstep. His music is subtle, chill, and relaxing. It doesn’t have your body ready to pound the floor nor the feeling of your brain operating like a Terminator. In 2010 he earned a nomination for “Best Chill Out Track” and “Best Chill Out Artist,” courtesy of Beatport. Check out the “No Egos No Tomatoes” tour video that features unreleased tracks from Gramatik and Michal Menert down below.
