Despite the fact that this is my first encounter with the Brooklyn native (I missed “Video Games” when it made the splash), I’m quite intrigue with her voice; it eloquently stands out from the pack of female artists on the music scene right now. The appearance of Jackie Kennedy, the voice of a soulful goddess and high on artistic value pretty much sums up my first impression of Lana Del Rey. She carries the passion and emotion of older singers like Billie Holliday where you can feel the pain or agony. That’s a trait many female artist lack—it’s a special quality.
She just released the official music video for the single “Born to Die” off her upcoming album Born to Die, which is set for release on January 31, 2012 via Interscope Records. I love the video’s artistic elements and how those decorative touches aren’t excessive to the point where they overpower the key thing, her voice.
