This week has been an excellent one for music, and that is only because Ben Browning released his highly anticipated debut solo EP. For those unaware, Ben is the man responsible for holding down bass duty in a little Australian band called Cut Copy. With this release of Lover Motion, Browning reveals his own personal talent for creating perfect crystalline pop that salutes both the past and the future, as he steps up to the position of frontman.
Leading up to the recording of Cut Copy’s latest record, Zonoscope, Ben was also laying down tracks on the side for a potential solo EP. A few months ago, he came outta nowhere with a music video for his lead single, “I Can’t Stay,” which I’ve had on repeat for a while now. You can buy the single package with remixes from Knightlife and Juan Maclean through the links provided below.
Of course, it sounds sort of Cut Copy-ish, but it’s never a bad thing when their trademark sound is obviously heard. If you’re a fan of classic melodies and intangible synth tones, then it’s safe to assume you’ll love this one. Ben just announced some tour dates for his solo shows with a new band, in which he’ll be travelling around Australia with Gloves, Geoff O’ Connor, Cut Copy DJs, Knightlife and more. I just wish they’d come back to LA! Rumor has it that the crew will be in the USA soon enough, and we’ll be reporting back when that gets announced.
