Time To Get "Ugly"—New Bassnectar Album—Plus Tour & Free Download

Lorin Ashton, who you may know better as Bassnectar, is set to release a new album Vava Voom on April 10th. Hard to believe this guy was a heavy death metal teen rocker in the ‘90s and now is a diverse producer that prefers booty dropping bass. Vava Voom will be released through Ashton’s own Amorphous Music label, the same that brought us 2010’s Timestretch and last year’s Divergent Spectrum.

The new album includes a wide array of influences from hip-hop to dream pop to metal. One of the tracks features Grammy nominated artist Lupe Fiasco, while another features members from Zion I. I’m pretty excited to hear what the Pennywise tribute is going to sound like.

Lorin says of “Ugly,”

Right off the bat, we want to let the ugliest kid ride first, because ugly is beautiful, and sometimes we like our music rugged, raw and berserk. I teamed up with Amp Live and we created a little banger to express how much we love it when it gets nasty.

You hear that? Ugly is beautiful. Take that, bullies!

Bassnectar will be embarking on an official Vava Voom tour in support of the new album. Last year, 72 of his tour dates sold out. Whether performing at auditoriums, coliseums, civic centers or at a major festival, Bassnectar produces events with the same passion and creativity as when making music.
