Cut Chemist (Jurassic 5 fame) is back with new single “Outro (Revisited)” via his own A Stable Sound label. Apparently the turntablist spent some time in jail and according RollingStone.com, “Outro (Revisited)” is a freedom-celebrating tune of sorts—it’s an ode to his tough times after being released from jail. “I had a strong urge to run so I made a song that made me feel like I was being chased,” he told Rolling Stone. The song’s texture isn’t typical Cut Chemist output. From Cut:
This song hails not from world rhythms or funky drum breaks but industrial meets Orange County punk.
What ever tag you wanna throw around it is cool with us… The tune does fire on all cylinders with contributions coming with Mars Volta's Deantoni Parks, Weapon of Choice's Lonnie Marshall and LA-based underground rap veteran Blackbird. Have a listen here (click to open pop up media player):
The song is off his Die Cut album which was released today. While we’re talking Cut Chemist, he is contributing music to the upcoming film One Day On Earth, check out a video below which samples music from the movie, filmed all over the world on the same day, October 10, 2010 (10/10/10).
