Music Review: Kanji Kinetic Presents “Heavy Bass Champions Of The World Vol. XVIII” (Trouble & Bass Records)

When it comes to bass music, the Trouble & Bass crew outta New York have the genre on lock and have pretty much always been at the forefront of the genre. The “Heavy Bass Champions of the World” series, T&B’s series 12” of strictly dancefloor/club tracks continues with this tradition, bringing some of the freshest names in the bass scene and putting their production skills on wax.

For the 18th installment, T&B go to remix champ Kanji Kinetic, who steps up to the boom and hits us with a four track EP filled with UK basslines, industrial and grime influences. The lead off track “Jiinx,” is a futuristic garage-dub anthem—as crispy on the dancefloor as it is raw. “NWO” is a prediction of a rave-filled Armageddon, complete with dark sirens, whistles and whoots. The EP as a whole is warehouse music at its finest—dark, raw, stripped down, loud and full of bass.

Out April 17th on Trouble & Bass Records.
