By all accounts Carl Cox & Friends at Ultra Music Festival this past March was pretty spectacular. Now the man himself is coming back for some headlining appearances across the US and Canada, which includes the debut of Carl Cox & Friends at this year’s EDC in Vegas. Both EDC events actually—first, in New York May on 19th (with Danny Tenaglia, John Digweed, tINI, Seth Troxler, Nicole Moudaber, Cassy, Art Department) then it's Las Vegas on June 10th (with UMEK, John Digweed, Green Velvet, Danny Tenaglia, Nicole Moudaber, Nic Fancuilli & Joris Voorn, Dennis Ferrer). BTW, didn’t Tenaglia retire, err wait, I’m mean resign from the DJ game? That was pretty short lived. Anywho… If you’re already a fan of Cox then you know the man doesn’t grace this side of the pond too often. Cox and his esteemed cast of merrymakers will hit Los Angeles, New York, Toronto, Las Vegas, San Francisco, Buffalo and Chicago. We’d expect dancefloors to be packed and shows to sell out quickly. That’s what he does, so you should act quickly.

In other Cox news, for those heading to Ibiza this year for some summer fun, Cox will be continuing his island revolution for 2012 with residents Yousef, Umek and Nic Fanciulli, plus more headliners and new faces, which will be announced soon. The Revolution Recruits at Space Ibiza will go down every Tuesday from July 3 until September 18. Last year marked the night’s 10th anniversary. Ten seasons at Space Ibiza (dubbed “the Rolls Royce of clubs,” by Cox) is a huge accomplishment.
For all the budding DJ/producers, there are a few contests underway:
“The Revolution Recruits" DJ Contest: If you’d like a chance to DJ at The Revolution Recruits alongside some of the biggest names in dance, at one of world’s biggest parties, here’s your opportunity. It’s a global competition, so anyone can enter. Just upload your best 30-minute DJ set via Mixcloud. The mixes with the most likes make the shortlist, which will then be judged by Carl and Safehouse Management. The best 4 will win return flights, accommodation and a DJ spot at one of the 12 Revolution nights. All winners are also invited to attend a short course at the renowned SAE Institute to develop their skills, as well as receiving premium memberships to SoundCloud and Headliner.fm. Details here.
“The Revolution Recruits” Theme Contest: For the theme contest, Cox is on a quest to establish an official theme track for his Revolution. If you’re an ambitious music producer, here’s the challenge: transform samples submitted by several Intec Digital artists into a track that you feel best communicates the spirit of Carl’s Revolution. The winning theme will be used as part of The Revolution Recruits promo material and officially released after the 2012 season has ended. The winner will also get the chance to develop his or her skills with one of the short courses offered by the SAE Institute. Premium memberships from SoundCloud and Headliner.fm are also in store for the winner. Details here.
