Collaborative Media has had the right idea. So Cal’s music scene is wide and vast to say the least. But it’s within these niche genres that you can see the true representation of music culture out here. Last year’s Pacific Festival took place at Oak Park located inland Orange County, but it had one of the most unique and interesting line-ups. It goes down as a favorite amongst the festivals in terms of music in SoCal of the last year. Some of the acts included Steve Aoki, Calvin Harris, and even Afroman. It also heavily represented the sounds of acts like Toro Y Moi, Cut Copy, and music of the like. To get your dance music fix, you could’ve checked out the Twelves, Fred Falke, or even Zedd. A large stage was even given to Jacques Renault and the Cosmic Kids. From one stage to the other you could catch Phantogram or Snoop Dogg. As you can tell, if you were a die-hard music fan in 2011, Pacific Festival was the place to be.
This year Collaborative Media returns September 2nd and to garner the name Pacific Festival, it is now located at Newport Dunes Waterfront Resort & Marina. By looking at the venue, we can tell it’s going to be a unique experience. The line-up will showcase a collection of artists that could fit anyone’s pool party playlist. Taking the top of the bill is New York-Native soul king Mayer Hawthorne, Poolside a Magnetic favorite, with indie wave groups, Capital Cities, Fool’s Gold and Dale Earnhardt Jr. Jr. Along with that, the festival couldn’t groove on without its DJs. French Express’ Perseus, Bag Raiders, Cosmic Kids, Miami Horror and Goldroom will be on mix control. With a lineup like this, all I can imagine is trekking down to Newport, wearing as little clothes as I possibly can in the summer heat and cracking open a brew while getting down. Not a bad way to spend a holiday weekend. Grab tickets here for some good vibes.
