The beats may have been born in America, but modern club culture as we know it is definitely British.
So goes one of the opening lines of "How Clubbing Changed the World" by DJ Idris Elba. It's true, Mr. Fingers might have asked the question "Can You Feel It" first on a Chicago dancefloor, but the Brits smiled loudly and gave us raves and EDM culture as we know it today.
From disco to house to dubstep, if you're at all curious how EDM went from a counter-cultural thing to its current multi-billion dollar incarnation, this seems to focus on the evolution of things. Insights and club-raising anecdotes come from David Guetta, Armand van Helden, Paul Oakenfold, will.i.am, Nile Rodgers, Goldie, Pete Tong, Katy B, Skream and former Home Secretary Michael Howard.
