So what exactly is the world’s largest floating EDM culture festival? The Groove Cruise features over 40 artists mixing for 2,300 partiers on a 12-story cruise ship heading from Miami to the Bahamas. Main DJs for the January 2013 cruise include Ferry Corsten, Funkagenda, Sander van Doorn and Prok & Fitch. Not too bad for a festival that started as a group of 125 friends going on a casual cruise. The excursion features beach parties, pool parties, theme parties, and in general, a lot of parties. Most impressively, the festival has a 97% satisfaction rate… the folks over at Electronica Life gave the cruise 4/5 stars. Guess Hard isn’t the only party in town.
High approval ratings mean that it’s hard to get tickets. The upshot, however, is that everyone feels like a VIP. People can meet and great some of their favorite DJs, eliciting a much more friendly atmosphere than at overpacked, dark clubs. The crowd features a variety of people from punks to dance music enthusiasts to douchey frat boys. Good luck trying to join that crowd however, just to be placed on the priority waitlist costs $200.
