Example teams up with acclaimed photographer and director Rankin for the music video for his single, “Come Taste The Rainbow,” which premiered on HungerTV on October 19. In it we see Example in a dark edgy raw side we haven’t seen before, painted silver to top it off. “Come Taste The Rainbow” is the second single released from Example’s forthcoming fourth studio album, The Evolution of a Man, which is due out November 19.
For those not familiar with Rankin, he rose to fame when he started Dazed & Confused magazine, and later Dazed Film & TV. He publishes Another Magazine [One of my personal favorites. -ED] and quarterly fashion magazine, RANK. Rankin’s latest projects feature artists’ Azealia Banks and Sky Ferreira, in what are now coming to be known as “dirty videos”—spur-of-the-moment music videos shot off the back of photo shoots in his studio. What Example had to say about working on “Come Taste The Rainbow” with Rankin:
I like the way he works—its like my approach to songwriting—he knows in his head what the finished article needs to look like and works towards that end goal…making his mind up as he goes along. We didnt decide to paint me silver until an hour before we starting rolling cameras. I enjoy this approach—fast, confident and instinctive. I think it will surprise some people.
