Tiësto, the EDM culture king himself, has teamed up with (RED) for a global EDM event on World Aids Day taking place December 1st 2012. Tiësto will become the very latest celebrity face of the (RED) campaign, whose goal is to pass on awareness of the AIDS epidemic, help those who need it most, and ultimately deliver an AIDS-free generation of people working together for a better future. The Dutch DJ will recruit an all-star line-up of EDM artists to help him and (RED) raise awareness over the elimination and transmission of HIV from mothers to their babies by 2015.
Having Tiësto engage his strong following to help (RED) deliver an AIDS-free generation is a dream come true for us, (RED) CEO Deborah Dugan tells Billboard.biz. This is just the kind of firepower we need to bring the world’s attention to the fact that we can end AIDS; a notion that was considered virtually impossible a decade ago.
To accompany the event, Tiësto will also be releasing a (RED) compilation, so get in the charitable mood EDMers because you know what they say about give and take, give what you can, and take some Tiësto tunes. No details as of now to when the compilation will be available. Check in with our friends over at mixmag for more news on the EDM event and its line-up.
