Sidney Samson wins this week’s Instagram Profile of the Week because he’s just so cheesy that’s it’s actually refreshing. Let me explain. Most DJ Instagrams feature your typical shots of the crowd with their hands up to the sky (which Samson has no shortage of), pictures of food, weird signs they find in different countries, and them hanging out with other DJs. Samson has a picture of food, but it’s him holding an entire turkey leg in his hand, expressionless. He has a picture with a weird sign, but in this case, it’s for Kwik-E-Mart.
Most importantly, we like the Dutch house DJ’s Instagram because it’s just him. He’s not trying to put up a front or look cool. He just is who he is. The best part is that Samson has exactly the same expression in all of his pictures. In one, he's holding a wine bottle. In another, he's riding the Hulk roller coaster at Universal. In a third, he's at the Great Wall of China. You could interchange his face in any of these pictures (and all the rest of his) and really not know the difference. Check it out for yourself @SidneySamson.
Samson has gotten support from the likes of David Guetta, Laidback Luke, Diplo, A-track, Tiga, and Boyz Noize. He began spinning at 13 after being inspired by DMC mix championships. In 2003 he became the resident DJ for the “Exxellent” nights at “The Matrixx,” one of Holland's biggest nightclubs. Samson is perhaps best known for his breakthrough, “Riverside” which went #1 on the Dutch top 40, #9 on the Australian ARIA Charts, and #2 on the UK Singles Charts.
