Swedish House Mafia Throwing Black Tie Rave To Benefit Hurricane Sandy Relief

Hey Swedish House Mafia, this is us looking you square in the eye and shaking your hand. Nice one guys, it’s always a pleasure when some puts their celebrity to work for a good cause, even more of a smile when it happens in EDM culture circles. It’s fucking nuts to think that many are still without power and there’s something like 40,000 people with no place to live—while FEMA temporary housing sits unused 100 miles away no less. No power, no home and sub freezing temps equals shitty.

New York City has been a massive part of our journey and there was no better way to say thank you than to help out along with so many other worthwhile events. We had the night off in NYC before our Madison Square Garden gig…and what better way to spend it! -Swedish House Mafia

So if you’re a local or just visiting the city, do some good and pick up tickets for this Black Tie Rave. It’s going down at The Hammerstein Ballroom on Feb. 28th. Tickets will be auctioned with 100% of the net proceeds being donated to the Mayor’s Fund to advance New York City and the hurricane Sandy New Jersey relief fund. The Mayor’s Fund is great (tip of the hat to New Jersey Governor Chris Christie and First Lady Mary Pat Christi) because they retain no administrative fee, and one hundred percent of donations are being dispersed to relief efforts organizations. Get involved, support a good cause. Auction starts Dec. 14th at 10 am EST through Dec. 16th at 10 pm EST. Starting bid is $100.00 per ticket with a two ticket minimum and a maximum of four tickets.

SHM are currently making their One Last Tour rounds. It kicked off last month in Dubai and is currently making its way across Europe. It will hit Eastern Europe, Russia, Asia, Southeast Asia, Indonesia, Malaysia, South Africa and Australia before reaching stateside in February. The originally announced US dates sold out in minutes, which caused the band to add many additional shows. The North American leg starts on Feb. 13th in San Francisco and will play Chicago, Toronto, Montreal, NYC, LA and Miami. It was announced last month that the final curtain call for One Last Tour will happen at the Ultra Music Festival in Miami, marking a significant milestone in the group’s career together. Ultra is where Axwell, Steve Angello and Sebastian Ingrosso played their first North American show together as Swedish House Mafia. They will play both the opening night of the festival on March 15th and the closing on March 24th in what is sure to be an emotional farewell to the group’s fans.
