For those of you who kicked yourself last year for missing out on Electric Forest and the outrageous lineup, get prepared to not make that same mistake again. Although tickets have been on sale for a minute now, the lineup itself was just released today. And I have to tell you, I think Madison House Presents and Insomniac might have outdone themselves. As I read the lineup, my mouth dropped wider and wider, and just when I thought it couldn't get better…. it did. To start, headliners include, Electric Forest live music pioneers, The String Cheese Incident, whom are to play 3 performances, as well as Pretty Lights, Passion Pitt, Benny Benassi, A-Trak, Yeasayer, Grimes, Baauer, Headhunterz, Madeon and many others, so many others. The list of confirmed artists is unbelievably jampacked with so many other incredible DJs, I'm just going to have to list them. From DJs you have heard, to those you need to hear, to those you need to discover, Electric Forest has what could very well be the biggest and most bad ass lineup of 2013.
Electric Forest's list of confirmed 2013 performers is as follows:
The String Cheese Incident
Empire of the Sun
Trombone Shorty & Orleans Avenue
Kill the Noise
FEMI KUTI & The Positive Force
SuckerPunch ft. Marc and Aron of the Disco Biscuits, Jamie Shields of the New Deal and Mike Greenfield of Lotus
Digital Tape Machine ft. Joel Cummins & Kris Myers of Umphrey's McGee
Le Castle Vania
Jeff Austin & Friends
Pigs on the Wing ft. Murphy of STS9
The Pimps of Joytime
Nahko and Medicine For The People
Up Until Now
Samo Sound Boy
Cosby Sweater ft. Joel Cummins of Umphrey's McGee
And guess what…more names will be announced!
In addition to this mind-blowing lineup, the Electric Forest will be expanding the legendary Sherwood Forest. If you recall our article we ran last year from Magnetic writer Matthew Braun, you might remember his disbelief in how perfect a place could be.
“With no exaggeration at all the Sherwood Forest is the most well produced and artistically inspired area I have ever seen at a music festival. The entire place is jam packed with art installations, hammocks, performance artists, and big beautiful trees. You can spend hours wandering around Sherwood while remaining completely entertained and rarely seeing the same thing twice. If everything else about the festival changed and now sucked but the Sherwood Forest remained the same you could still make a compelling argument that Electric Forest was a necessary stop for any festival fan." -Matthew Braun
One has to wonder… how they could top a reaction like that, and a place so perfect? We'll just have to wait and see, but in the meantime the only hints we can have to what’s in store is that "Fans can look forward to more to discover, wonder and wow."
