A few weeks back we stumbled upon the sounds of Room8 and love it. It's the perfect balance between past, present and future. It's a fairly new project from the brains of Ezra Reich and Nic Johns. If the last name Reich rings a bell, you'd be correct, Ezra is the son of musical pioneer, Steve Reich. The duo is currently putting the finishing touches on their debut album, Transduction. The album features a slew of collaborations: Electric Youth (from the neon noir hit "Drive"), Martha Davis (leader of classic New Wave icons, The Motels), sax work of Ian Young from M83, guitar work from Giorgio Moroder arranger and guitar player and famed producer, Richie Zito. To top it off, the album was mixed with Gavin Mackillop (Human League, General Public, Heaven 17) with artwork by the legendary art collective, The Zonders.
Needless to say we're pretty excited about what's to come. So much so that we said fuck it and asked the duo if they could make us a special song for Valentine's Day. They obliged and just sent us a cover of "One More Night" by Phil Collins.
If you like what you hear and you're going to be in Los Angeles on the 21st, they have show at The Roosevelt. You can RSVP here. It's a small spot, so giddy up.
