Summer is just around the corner, and if mainstream Coachella isn’t really your scene, the progressive vibe of Lucidity Festival might be just the place to kick off the 2013 festival season. The 3-day event is taking place in Santa Ynez just outside of Santa Barbra County on April 12th - 14th. Lucidity went off for the first time last spring, and pulled in an impressive crowd of open-minded music and art lovers. The festival came about as a collective project between multiple Santa Barbra-based music and art communities, and has grown into a substantial event with a clearly defined vision in a short amount of time.
Lucidity promotes a creative and transformative mindset, and seeks to establish a community based around positive expression through art and music. Lucidity Festival focuses on expanding consciousness and promoting healing using dance and creative expression. The festival encourages attendees to participate by creating works of art, leading and attending workshops, dressing in costume, creating their own theme camps and whatever else in order to enrich the lucid environment. They include this call to action on their website:
When we become lucid in our dreams, we realize ourselves as infinite potential, we let go of fear, and we are free to create that which we want to see in the world. Bring those visions, those possibilities, and that delicious conscious energy with you to Lucidity and wake up in the dream.
The festival features an impressive lineup of DJs and live musicians spanning multiple genres. Headliners include: Zion I, ill. Gates, Gladkill, Phutureprimitive, Liberation Movement and many more. There will be shows from multiple circus and live performers, as well as gallery and live installation art. Attendees can choose to partake in free workshops for everything from yoga, to flow arts, to holistic healing practices.
Lucidity Festival will most definitely be a beautiful weekend at Santa Ynez’s Live Oak Campground—a lush setting coated in green grass and shady oak trees. Tent camping is included with a 3-day GA pass, and car camping passes are available but limited. Lucidity will be filled with passion, enchantment, and some seriously heavy beats! The event will likely sell out, so be sure to get tickets while they are still available.
