Tomorrow night at The W Union Square in NYC marks the east coast debut of mysterious disco edit sensation, Marvin & Guy. The event is another stellar party from Brooklyn Bass, who have been killing it with quality underground content over the last few years. Not only is it the east coast debut of Marvin & Guy, but actually the USA debut. We don't know where they're from or who they are, but they turned a large number of heads in 2012 with releases on Lets Get Lost and will soon be putting out records with Endless Flight and On The Prowl. Raised on a diet consisting strictly of karate and classic anime films, Marvin & Guy remain true to their martial arts aesthetic when it comes to music by delivering a heavy volume of punch.
When asked about their musical influences, they simply replied; "Great and REAL musicians like Morricone, Trovajoli, Malavasi, Eric Dolphy, Klaus Weiss, Ahmad Jamal, Arthur Russell and DJs like Ron Hardy, Larry Levan, Timmy Regisford. Today our inspiration comes from producers/musicians like Moodymann, Theo Parrish, Kindness, Onra, and Morgan Geist." They also explained how the disco/house scene is growing at a great rate and a lot of young DJs are getting into this kind of sound. We all agreed that this is only the beginning of a new house era. Soon they'll be releasing another Lets Get Lost edit 12'' and a few remixes for guys like Eddie C and Emotion II Emotion. And if you ask Jacques Renault and Marcos Cabral what they think about the next On The Prowl record from Marvin & Guy they'll tell you how big the tracks are. Need I say more?
