Will Saul, under his Close alias, has brought us a single worth making the trip down to the record shop and coping. Close’s name has been getting out there with remixes of Little Dragon and Fink, as well as the first original track “OSCAR.” “Beam Me Up” is on deck, breaking from Saul’s usual deep house vibe, adding more disco and pop elements.
Close enlists future-producer Scuba as well as the vocals of Charlene Soraia on the original mix, creating a hypnotic, only for the nightclub type of track that takes you where you want to go. The bass is heavy, the pianos are tripped out and the vocals are just right. UK EDM cross-trainer George Fitzgerald is on the first remix, adding heavy techno bass that’s ready to go to war on the dancefloor. New York’s Hercules and Love Affair juxtapose acid with Soraia’s melodic vocals, perfect for the 4 am vibe. The single is rounded out with Berlin based Scuba’s dub version that is perfect for those who just want to dance and don’t want any sing-a-long nonsense.
“Beam Me Up” is the next single off of Close’s full length album Getting Closer out this June. Look for the single on April 22nd via !K7 Records.
