To commemorate the Los Angeles-based arts and culture promoter’s 20th anniversary, Green Galactic harks back to its roots by mounting a free event featuring electronic music innovators Pole, John Tejada and Plaid in collaboration with Grand Performances on Sunday, June 30, 2013. Thanks to GP’s beautiful California Plaza location, Green Galactic’s 20th Anniversary Celebration will be staged at one of the most unique venues in Los Angeles, surrounded by water and nestled under the spectacular Downtown skyline.
Green Galactic’s 20th Anniversary Celebration will submerge the audience into a pool of richly hued sights and sounds, featuring the dubby complex rhythms of Berlin-based pole, visceral experimental soundscapes by Plaid from the UK, and the melodic handcrafted techno of LA’s own John Tejada. German-based DJ Barbara Preisinger will open the evening with a 30 to 45-minute set. The event’s projection art will be provided by Plaid and Charlene Boehne. Boehne will perform live visuals during Tejada’s and pole’s sets.
California Plaza, the home site of Grand Performances, is part of the Grand Avenue Cultural Corridor. Event parking is $7.50 (cash only). Complimentary bike valet will be available on the Upper Plaza. The California Plaza parking garage is accessible on Olive Street, between 1st and 4th streets (351 S. Olive Ave, Los Angeles, CA 90071; 213-687-2159)
