As DJing has moved from the Technics 1200's and Rane mixers to Pioneer CDJ-2000's and DJM-900's, you're not seeing too much excitement going on in the DJ booth aside from throwing cakes at people, spitting champagne, and the poser Jesus stance.
Aside from what the hype men want you to believe there is a bit more to getting down on the one's and two's (or three's and four's nowadays). Detroit techno greats have been rocking the isolators for years now, and serve as a good inspiration of how to take your set to the next level. You might even want to trade in that Pioneer for a custom E&S or Alpha Recordings Rotary.
Check out DJ Techtools for a full description of the Isolator and how DJs like Derrick May, Theo Parrish, and Joe Claussell have rocked it.
