These Nike Free Run Shelby Lee's might be the perfect rave kicks for the sensible ladies in EDM culture; there's no way you're wearing heels and you are definitely NOT furry moon boot viking chick. And while they may not say 'PLUR', a multicultural vibe, bright rainbow colorway and 'peace, love, faith' etched on the sides is pretty damn close.
If that isn't enough positive vibes for you, the background on these shoes should be. They are re-issues of Nike's Doernbecher line, named after a children's hospital in Portland. Patients receiving treatment for life threatening diseases can design shoes, and all proceeds from the sales go back to the hospital. Here's a full description:
Next up in line of Doernbecher re-releases is the Nike Free Run 2 “Shelby Lee”. Shelby Lee designed the original version of the shoe while recovering from a series of heart surgeries. The colorway is actually inspired by her journey from China to the United States as an orphan. The sneaker actually features the names of both countries on the tongue of each shoe. Pretty neat. And like all Doernbecher releases, the proceeds will go to a child in need. The sneaker will be releasing August 17th at select Nike retailers and their web store.
