We got a quick chance to rap with Bass Kleph a couple of days right before a big, big show at Hollywood's famed Avalon Nightclub. Mr. Kleph is on the fast track to success in EDM culture, grinding hard and working harder, with some big music projects in the works. Here's what he had to say:
Bass Kleph, what’s up man? Are you pumped for Avalon this Saturday?
Yep! Avalon is one of my Favourite clubs in the world!
What are you expecting?
Big crowd, big smiles and lots of dancing shoes!
So tell us about your performance. What type of sounds and energy are you going to bring?
My sound is electro house with a twist of tribal tech. I'll be testing a few of my new records, bringing back a few classics, and playing a few live on my drum machine.
You use the Native Instruments Maschine in your sets. What is it about this equipment that stands out over others? What else is in your DJ rig?
It's very flexible in terms of the way you can set up kits. Lots of clever performance options and i like the way i can use synthesiser plugins like Massive as well as samples. Also it has nice big pads that light up in cool colours ;)
Best LA place to grub after a gig?
Either Mels Diner, Kitchen 24 or 25 Degrees under the Roosevelt.
You’re originally from Australia. Why are you guys so outta control (in a good way!)?
It's a not so delicate combination of Vegemite, good coffee, and Beer.
Australian Girls or American Girls? Why?
American Girls all the way! Especially with cute southern accents
So when you’re bored, it looks like you make hit music. Who have you worked with? Who do you want to work with?
I've worked with lots of people but some of the main ones you would know are Tommy Trash, NERVO, Morgan Page, The Potbelleez, DJ Bam Bam, & Alex Kenji. I Also have upcoming colabs with Jordy Dazz, EC Twins, Andy Caldwell and more! Next on the list, i think i'd like to colab with Showtek, W&W, Knife Party, Chocolate Puma, Afrojack, and Bingo Players.
Who do you never, ever, ever want to work with?
Anyone with a negative attitude, or massive ego.
Favorite non EDM act of the momement?
Drake and Frank Ocean. Great songs, great production, and fresh!
It looks like you’re an avid snowboarder. Favorite place to ride? Do you listen to tunes?
Yep! my favourite thing to do after music. Favourite place to ride is Myoko in Japan. Tunes I listen too are either older hip hop like tribe called quest, dub like Fat Freddy's Drop, or more rocky stuff like Justice!
