EDM Review: House Music Veteran Colette's 'When The Music's Loud'; Out August 27th Via Candy Talk Records

Chicago house music mainstay (and former Smart Bar resident) Colette has recently announced her third studio album "When The Music's Loud". In an era where EDM culture is clogged with pseudo legends and jokers bathing in hyped up overnight success, the release couldn't come at a better time.

The eleven track album is ripe with the modern sounds of EDM; yet it never loses sight of influencers like italo disco, classic house and electro. The opening track "The Best Of Days" gets right down to business with its disco cut-up house vibe (and could very well be an ode to those that are true to dance music).

Next up is the first single and title cut "When The Musics Loud". It's pretty much modern italo nu-disco butter right up until ends with a nice and dirty bass-down. From this point on the album opens up, incorporating a strong pop sensibility in its production. This allows When the Music's Loud to take shape as one of the few EDM albums this year that can stand on the merits of the individual songs as well as an overall album concept.

"When The Musics Loud" encompasses the majority of the sounds found in today's dance music, yet it sounds fresh and new. To state 'there is something for everyone' would be cliche. This album should be something everyone should hear.
