FRIDAY NOVEMBER 22
DANNY DAZE, LAUREN LANE & MORE/FRAMEWORK FRIDAYS
DARK TONES and FRAMEWORK add fire to your Fridays once again. This time they welcome heavy weights DANNY DAZE & LAUREN LANE. With one seriously epic sound system and the fancy pants interior of Hollywood club SOUND, I look forward to tomorrow...
Los Angeles DJ, LAUREN LANE has frequented this blog, because we here at Magnetic are fans of this local lady. Check out her Cool Kids remix-
DANNY DAZE, real name Daniel Gomez, started djing in 99'. He would DJ weddings at 14 years old and use the money on vinyl for rave gigs. Started making music in 04' on a cracked version of Fruity Loops. Went to SAE to learn WTF he was doing and graduated first in his class. Most of his youth was spent collecting vinyl and seeking out doubles to trade with others. Early influences came from Miami Bass & Booty music, which led to Electro & Techno. Started an Electro record label in 2005 which released white labels and official V/A double packs. Now he produces electronic music and travels quite a bit. The main focus of his DJ sets is to make people dance, deeply commanded by Detroit Techno and Italo Disco. While his main focus in music production is to push himself & try something a bit different than the last session.
SATURDAY NOVEMBER 23
LOT 613. DTLA
Lee Curtiss, Shaun Reeves, Seth Troxler, Ryan Crosson make up VISIONQUEST.
A new generation of young, talented producers from Detroit who draw influence from all who have come before them, following in their footsteps, while defining a unique sound of their own. Here you have four DJs who have grown up organizing parties and DJing in the city and around the world for the last ten years. Their attention is firmly focused on the deeper soul of quality electronic music, driven by emotion and developed from their very different musical backgrounds. Visionquest have their roots in Motown, draw ambitious spiritual vibes from forerunners like Theo Parrish and Moodyman, deliver the quality of sound and attitude of a best selling Minus record rounded off with the dreamy, otherworldly vibe of the Spectral sound.
DARK TONES X Sound Nightclub (Framework) are on board alongside MFG Presents & Culprit LA for the LA event on Saturday Nov. 23rd for Visionquest: Seth Troxler + Shaun Reeves + Lee Curtiss + Ryan Crosson
The Visionquest crew's worldwide "13" tour makes a stop in Los Angeles. The four Michigan natives who have - together and solo - made an incredible mark on dance music recently, take party matters into their own hands with the "13" party concept. It unifies a baker' dozen of VQ's favorite global locations into a motley cru of a party series, conceived of, put together and played at by the Fearsome Foursome themselves.

SATURDAY NOVEMBER 23
MARCEL VOGEL, TK DISKO & MORE/DISCO VOLANTE
You all know by now if you've read this far I'm a sucker for a good warehouse shin dig. DISCO VOLANTE will be the Saturday night dance fever I come down with! Brace yourselves for garage, house, party vibes with your lovely hostesses breakin' necks and hearts; Sam Ogle & Eleanor Wells AKA Betty & Veronica of the dance floor. Paisley Bruise will be capturing the shenanigans on camera, so act natural and come correct!
James Brown said it: Get up, get down & get involved! Marcel Vogel wanted to get involved in all things music from an early age on. Compiling tapes from his mother's record collection, being addicted to Yo MTV Raps and this whole fantastic world of Hip Hop. Trying to be a B-Boy, trying to be a rapper, a poet and a writer. But DJing stuck and how it stuck. Practice sessions forced the whole village to listen due to open windows. Marcel soon became part of a school of DIY people that are Djing, organising parties, setting up labels and releasing the music that is missing in the records stores.

SUNDAY NOVEMBER 24
FOOLISH FELIX/SUNNY SIDE UP
5 STAR BAR. DTLA
Fry like bacon bitches! This unholy Sunday funday, I recommend you all mosey on down to divey 5 Star for SUNNY SIDE UP, an institution amongst vinyl loving' Angelenos. This week's edition featuring a very special guest Felix’s Dickinson!!
FELiX DiCKiNSON (Cynic Music - UK)
It’s tempting to concentrate on Felix’s Dickinson’s History, such as his days knocking about with the Tonka Soundsystem, his pre criminal justice act rave orchestration, his 10 years DJing for the Lifeforce parties in Japan or any of his DJing and touring achievements during the early formation of the UK House scene. But, to concentrate on any of these things is clearly missing the point.
Yes, Felix was making and playing music in those “early days”, but he has consistently championed underground music to this very day, whether via his myriad musical guises and aliases including Foolish and Sly, LHAS Inc, Das Etwas, Bastedos, and the soon to be revealed “Dedication” project, on labels like DFA, Eskimo, Rush Hour and International Feel… or through his own Label, Cynic Music.
It’s Felix’s absolute dedication to music, parties and dancing, which has allowed him to remain as relevant today as he ever was, and which has secured him regular appearances at festivals such as The Garden Festival, Burning Man and Glastonbury, regular tours of Japan, the USA and beyond as well as his London residencies at 'Bad Passion' and his own party, 'Bring It', which he hosts alongside the Idjut Boys.
Bizarre as it seems after such a lengthy involvement spent at the heart of the scene, despite everything he’s already achieved It still makes more sense to be excited about what Felix is going to next.
