People have been saying that disco is making a comeback pretty much since they declared it was dead. My theory is this - it never really "died", just went back to the underground and continued to permeate influence into more modern and/or mainstream music genres.
Why? Because as cheesy as some of it was, there were actually a quite a few songs that are timeless classics. For example, Alexander Robotnick's "Problèmes d'Amour" has just hit it's 30th anniversary, and you can pretty much drop this track anywhere still today- a hip hop club, an electronic music underground, or even more mainstream events. Disco or not disco, it just has that sound that gets people moving- thats what good music does.
To commemorate it's anniversary, Alexander Robotnick has shared the "Problèmes d'Amour" (Ah Ou Ah Version) as a free download. It's rare that an artist releases a hit track 30 years later as a download, so big ups to the disco vet Robotnick on this!
