DJ SPUN (Rong Music/NYC)
If busy means happy, then DJ Spun should be delirious. A key player in various U.S. music scenes since the early 80’s, he got his start playing in San Francisco bands and has shared the stage with such punk luminaries as the Dead Kennedy’s, Black Flag and Social Distortion.
In 1987, he got his first DJ gig, an opening slot for Kurtis Blow in San Jose. From there he went on to his now legendary club nights. He held residencies at such seminal West Coast parties as A Rave Called Sharon, Funky Techno Tribe and The Gathering. Manning the decks in countless guest spots Spun has racked up the frequent flyer miles playing at many world-renowned parties and clubs, among them San Francisco’s Wicked, Organic, Spundae, and End Up. LA’s Unlock the House, New York’s Centro Fly, APT. Passerby and 205, Frankfurt’s the Omen, Rio, Cookies and White Trash Fast Food in Berlin, BED in Bangkok, Liquid Room and Unit in Tokyo, and Lick and Organic in Sydney.
Currently residing in New York City, Spun is also the curator and organizer of P.S.1/MoMA’s prestigious Warm Up Music Series. Acknowledged as NYC’s best Summertime Party, “Warm Up” averages 4000 attendees each Saturday. He’s also resident at APT. and 205 club with Eric Duncan of Rub n Tug.

MONDAY DECEMBER 23
FELIX DA HOUSECAT
Sound Nightclub, Hollywood
In a world obsessed with labeling, Felix da Housecat is dedicated to making the people dance. He is one of those rare, charisma-oozing characters, whose musical and mental eccentricity come from a genuine place. He’s never afraid to take a risk to reach new ground. It’s this blend of qualities that has kept him in such high reverence in the electronic field for two decades now, and which has ensured that his music has been a consistently captivating force.
Felix da Housecat’s 2001 album, “Kittenz and thee Glitz”, turned the dance music world on its side with his collab with infamous Miss Kitten, spawning a synth club revival. Along the way, Felix gained mainstream press acceptance and was heralded by New York Times, Entertainment Weekly, Rolling Stone and Spin as one of the most creative artists in music. Funky synth lines & L.A meets Eurotrash vocals captured a moment in time, after a period of political turmoil and the realization of their “silliness” was one of the most influential dance music releases of the past decade.
With his album “Devin Dazzle and the Neon Fever” in 2004 he once again gained attention of both the underground and the masses. Teamed up with hip hop royalty, Dan the Automator & Prince Paul, along with guest vocals from LCD Soundsytem’s, James Murphy this album transcended dance music of the time.
Although we honor the past achievements from Felix, let’s embrace the present and future accomplishments on the dance floor this Monday ya’ll!
This is the year that Felix Da Housecat reclaims his position amongst the upper echelons of dance music.
