Agenda Show came and went last week with the usual big guys flaunting the next great skate sneaker or board bag.
Some of the best gems, though, come from the small brands. The ones with something to prove and limitless creativity. Here are five to watch as you gear up for the 2014 festival season.
1. Komono (pictured above)
This Belgian brand is bringing their sleek watches and sunglasses stateside this year. Almost everything is under $100, so they’re the perfect pieces to take with you and not worry (too much) if they get smashed because you danced a little too hard.
2. Ridgemont Outfitters
Officially launching at Agenda, this outdoor lifestyle company is brand new with big ambitions. Their shoes fill the gap between outdoorsy and casual, so your feet will stay protected in that muddy dance pit and you’re going to look great while doing it.
3. Arbor Collective
Ever come back from a day on the festival grounds and all you want is a clean, comfy shirt to sleep in? Look no further. This Venice-based skate collective has flown under the radar for some time and has timeless tees made from bamboo yarn. Perfect for those days you might have had a little * too * much fun at the shows.
In what seems a marvel of modern clothing, this lifestyle brand has developed a comfy hoodie with built in speakers AND an iPod holder on the sleeve. The whole thing is machine washable and very durable. No more tangled cords on the subway; it’s an all-in-one package.
This sunglasses collection is based around timeless simplicity and each is named after a sunny destination. At Agenda, Wonderland didn’t even show the actual glasses, just a picture of each city as a display of their inspiration. When you pop on a pair of these, you’re buying into the Wonderland idea of a summer getaway as much as you are eyewear.
