This year's Grammy Awards celebration was sensational for the EDM Community. Daft Punk swept their categories, and Zedd went home with a shiny new toy. The nominees were top notch, and it was gratifying to see some of the faces we respect and love so much, sitting in the crowd with the music elite. Although neither went home with an award, Kaskade and Armin van Buuren housed two of the best Grammy parties of the weekend.

Kaskade took over Create nightclub on Friday, with an unlivable opening set by DJ Vice and guest appearance by the undeniably talented vocalist, Mike Taylor.
As the lights dimmed and the dancefloor became packed from wall to wall, Kaskade stepped behind the booth and in nearly an instant, the room shifted from a regular LA club, into a house infused basement of bodies, sounds, and bass. This was not a regular set. This was not Atmosphere or Freaks of Nature. This was raw house music, and damn did it make us move. Kaskade expressed his gratitude and made every one of his fans aware that without them, he wouldn't have made it to that podium.
On Sunday,Armin van Buuren, fresh off of the red carpet, threw an intimate, invite only party at Sound nightclub. By far, one of the most spectaclar experiences I've lived to see. Here before us, stood a man who has single handedly redefined trance music, and built an empire from it.
Continually selling out festivals, world-wide tours, and club events- Armin van Buuren is not a man who we see perform for just under 300 people in an intimate setting. It was magical, to say the least. Walking out of Staples center without the coveted grammy appeared to be the least of his worries as he created a platform for his fans.
AVB took us through every stage of trance, from emotional to uplifting, back to dark and all the way to 138. He proved that it does't take an award to make you great, it takes an unconditional love for your craft, and a promise to your fans.
Congratulations to all the winners, nominees and fans of electronic dance music. We took it home!
