Will EDM Culture Strike Out When It Faces Other Genres At The 2014 Grammys?

Music industry insiders Bob Lefsetz, DJ Skee and CivicScience's John Dick recently came together on AXS TV to predict the winners of this year's Grammy Awards.

Their predictions don't look too hot for the EDM artists going head to head with more mainstream acts in the broader categories- Album of the Year, Record of the Year, and Best New Artist.

No one none seemed to favor Daft Punk to take Album or Record of the Year, with those wins going to hip hop act Macklemore & Ryan Lewis and New Zealand newcomer Lorde, respectively. For the Best New Artist category, beat smith James Blake is predicted to loose, again to Macklemore & Ryan Lewis.

CivicScience, the organization on which the final AXS TV Grammy predictions were based, used a proprietary method that involved surveys of both music industry professionals and general consumers.

A similar method was used recently to predict the 2013 Academy Awards with favorable results.  This is the first year that CivicScience is attempting to predict Grammy Winners.

When it comes to the standing electronic music categories for the Grammys, the nominations are as follows:

Best Dance Recording

"Need U (100%)" - Duke Dumont Featuring A*M*E & MNEK
