Event Review: AWOL Snow In Mammoth, CA

Event Review - AWOL Snow In Mammoth, CA

AWOL, or Another Way of Life, started in 2010 in Cabo San Lucas with 250 people and the idea that great music and destination vacations were a perfect match. The event and its followers have since grown considerably in size and now do four events a year: Snow, Oasis, Sun and Strip.

This year Magnetic Mag partnered up with the AWOL crew for SNOW, held at Mammoth Mountain in the California Sierras.  With DJs Anthony Attalla, Brazzabelle, and Stellar sharing the headlining slots over the weekend event (bookended by epic days on the slopes) there was going to be no rest to be had, not by a long shot.

Unfortunately due to the ongoing California drought, the snow conditions at Mammoth were a bit sparse.  However, this didn’t stop the dedicated Lifers from making the best of it.   Check-in Friday night was full of anticipation for the weekend ahead, and after everyone got settled, we all made haste to The Underground nightclub for the opening party with Anthony Attalla.  And what better way to kick off a a weekend in the mountains than a surprise open bar! This, combined with Anthony Attalla's signature tech-house sound, had the club rocking until they kicked us out.

Saturday morning hurt a little bit, but it was nothing a day on slopes and an après-ski party, aptly called UNTZ, couldn't fix.  We were good to go come nightfall, and headed over to the Underground once again to catch Brazzabelle and Stellar drop some EDM cuts just perfect for a Saturday night. The High Sierras only made for the perfect backdrop.

What can we say about AWOL? One thing's for sure, they know how to put together epic destination festivals that attract an great crowd, all of whom are fans of positive vibes and cutting edge electronic music.

Their next event is the A.W.O.L. Oasis, held May 2nd through 4th in Palm Springs. For more information, click here.
