Almost $400k was ordered to be coughed up by LA's Coliseum Commission for the failed civil lawsuit that targeted Insomniac Events and Go-Ventures, the promoters of EDM culture's Electric Daisy Carnival.
The lawsuit was filed back in November of 2011, alleging a conspiracy between Insomniac, Go Ventures and ex-events manager Todd DeStefano that resulted in a loss of money to the commission. The suit was dismissed August of last year, and Insomniac attorneys immediately filed a motion for reimbursement of their legal fees, which the judge granted today.

Gary Kaufman, an attorney for Insomniac said “We have maintained from day one that this matter was politically motivated and publicity driven. Just like elections, losing a lawsuit has real consequences. Today the court ordered the Coliseum Commission to pay Insomniac's attorney fees, approximately $396,000, for having pursing misguided and ill- conceived lawsuits.”
Could it be that this will help Insomniac bring back their events to Los Angeles? A lot of Angelenos would love to see EDC come back to its original birthplace.
