Formed in 2009 under the direction of veteran Egyptian DJs Fahmy & Samba, Electrum Records is one of the first established house music production labels to come out of Cairo & Egypt at large. Aguizi & Fahim, a production duo on the label, just dropped a new four track EP called "Square One", which reflects some of the sounds coming out of the emerging club scene found in the Middle Eastern Metropolis.
The EP kicks off with "In The Mood", a modern disco house track with a thick bass line and a French brass synth along with a guitar melody that puts you in the mood for an Arabian tea party. Up next is "Pixel Deep" is a chill out/ deep house track with an electro bassline and punchy drums, perfect for the club. It marks the first deep house track the duo has produced. There's some heavy tech influences in there as well.

On the flip, “Sold Out" is another dark, tech house type track that's perfect for the late night club vibe. According to Aguizi & Fahim, most of the sounds were produced through Sylenth 1 VST. The snares are crunchy, and there's just enough bass bounce to really work the dance floor. “Please No More" is the stand out track on the EP, as it turns Darudes' "Sandstorm" into a tech house heater. They reworked the melody , but you can still hear the sample/influence. Nice work.
