deadmau5' new album will be "worth the wait", or at least that's what he said on twitter today. It's an album that much of EDM culture is heavily anticipating, especially after a heavily talked about performance at Ultra Music Festival 2014. He also recently released a techno record under an alias on Richie Hawtin's label in March.
deadmau5, aka Joel Zimmerman said on twitter just a couple hours ago:
The album is rumored to be a double LP and is said to be due this year on Astralwerks. Very little information has been leaked about the release. Zimmerman recently told the Australian blog Inthemix
I’m trying to just do an album that if you don’t know your fuckin’ head from your arse you’ll walk through the record store, see it and go, ‘Ah, this could be cool. Plus there’s a couple of tracks on there that are quite radio-friendly, not even dance music, that I’m going to put out as singles just to attract that kind of shit. So it’s a long-game strategy at this point.”
Recently, Zimmerman also was on twitter defending EDM from comments that Arcade Fire's front man Win Butler said Coachella. During his weekend one set, he said "Shout out to all the bands still using real instruments". It was a jab at electronic music because it is made and performed mostly on computers.
