DJ Rashad, DJ EZ Rock Die Over The Weekend

Chicago Footwork DJ Rashad died yesterday in Chicago from an apparent drug overdose.  His body was found unresponsive at approximately 1:30 PM.  The news broke on twitter via Detroit's DJ Godfather and was first picked up by Do Androids Dance.  The twitter thread looked as follows:

UPDATE: A spokesman for Hyperdub Records, the label that released Double Cup, has said that an official statement will be released Monday morning.

UPDATE: Authorities have confirmed Rashad's death this afternoon. He was found unresponsive by a friend in his apartment on West 21st Street on the Lower East Side of Chicago. According to the Cook County Medical Examiner's office, he was pronounced dead at the scene at 1:50PM. He was found with both narcotics and paraphernalia near his body.

DJ Rashad was 34 at the time of his death. His new EP, We On 1, was scheduled for release on Monday, April 28th. You can purchase on iTunes and Amazon.
