New Electronic Music Chart- Electro/Progressive 4/23/14
This week in new electronic music, the quality electro and progressive tunes continue to flow for festival season. There are some really fresh sounds this week, ranging from tribal drums to skyrocketing, ground-pounding drops.
1. "On Your Mark" Gregor Salto & Wiwek, G-Rex Music
Thank the electro gods that this song was made. Gives us hope that fresh, original tracks can still be produced. I dropped this tribal drum banger at a gig this weekend and the crowd went bananas. Out now.
2. "Bangla" MERCER & BARE, Spinnin' Records
The most insane drop of the week. A massive banger that still manages to produce a fresh new sound. Out April 28th.
3. "Slapjack" Henry Fong & Reece Low, TBD
Insane high-pitched synths equal insane energy. Fong never disappoints, and Reece Low holds his own. Out soon.
4. "Anubi" Dannic vs Merk & Kremont, Revealed Recordings
The Revealed Recordings triumvirate of Hardwell, Dannic and Dyro deserve a lot of credit for pumping out quality progressive tunes like a factory while still touring the globe. This time Dannic teams up with Merk & Kremont to produce an electric melody with nice high-pitched synths accenting the drop. Out April 28th.
5. "Use Somebody" (Gazzo Cover Remix) Kings Of Leon X Ghost Wars
New Jersey-native Gazzo stays on top of his game. An uplifting tune with a smooth transition from the vocals to the drop. I really like the pitch bends at the end of the drop, too. Available as a free download via the SoundCloud stream below.
6. "Happy" (Sevag Area-201 Remix) Pharrell Williams
I wasn't sure whether Pharrell's insanely popular song could be adapted to a progressive drop, but Sevag has done it masterfully. I'll be listening on repeat. Available as a free download via the SoundCloud stream below.
7. "Bazooka" Firebeatz, Spinnin' Records
Firebeatz spit the hot fire with another track that unleashes electro bombardment. Edgy synths. Out May 19th.
8. "Dare You" (Andrew Rayel Remix) Hardwell feat. Matthew Koma, Revealed Recordings
Andrew Rayel continues to blur the lines between progressive house and trance, creating an insanely uplifting remix of Hardwell's "Dare You." Out soon.
9. "Jump" Wolfpack & Bobby Puma, Smash The House
This is the first track I've heard from this production team. The funky, gritty electro drop will make you wanna jump.
10. "Echo" Blasterjaxx, Protocol Recordings
Here's another Blasterjaxx hand-raiser that premiered at Ultra Miami. The fast-paced melodic drop takes your energy a step higher. Out now.
