Megan Sutherland's LA Weekend Event Picks- May 9th - 11th
A Tale of Us has been steadily creating a buzz from all the major cities worldwide. Karm & Matteo Milleri make up this unique Berlin based sound scape project. Both originally hailing from outside of Europe, Karm was born in Toronto and Matteo in New York, they moved to Milan while very young and this is where they met and formed the working bond that they now share.Their music and productions are a mixture of new sounds and genres ranging from pop to house, nu/disco to rock with everything in between. The common thread of all these sounds is geared to make you loose yourself on the dance floor.
Another chapter in this tale will be written Friday with a heavy hitting cast of Magnetic Favorites; Justin Martin, Joy Orbison, Danny Daze, Blond:ish, Droog and Split Secs!

OMAR S (FXHE, Sound SIgnature -Detroit):
Omar S hails from Detroit, a city with quite an extensive history with house and techno music including legendary artists such as Carl Craig, Derrick May, Juan Atkins, Drexciya and Kevin Saunderson. Using the sounds of old-school synthesizers and early drum machines, Omar S pays tribute to Chicago house and Detroit techno by creating raw and dirty house tracks that have been dropping jaws among music enthusiasts around the globe, and usually come only on limited edition white label with handwritten info via his FXHE imprint, with the exception of releases on Theo Parrish's Sound Signature label and a mix consisting entirely of his own material as number 45 in Fabric's mix series.
FIT (FXHE - Detroit)
Aaron "Fit" Siegel, the Detroit-bred producer, runs his own label, FIT Sound, as well as manages his record distribution company, FIT Distribution in Detroit. Omar S co-produced his track "Tonite" (Detroit remix on the B-side), released on FXHE.

NEW BODY (A Club Called Rhonda, Body High):
Newbody is a Los Angeles-based dance music duo with a forthcoming release on Body High Records. From the birthplace of techno, Detroit, singer/songwriter Roberto Ramone cites Gospel, Soul, Pop and R&B as his strongest influences growing up. And while he was at church honing his vocal chops, Los Angeles producer Jonathan Roshad was at the raves. It was through the advent of MySpace that the duo found each other, discovering a mutual love of Prince. Citing influences from the likes of Deee-lite, Todd Edwards and Kerri Chandler, their sound takes its underground inspiration from Detroit, New York, and the U.K.
Hosted by Resident DJ Pickpocket

SUNDAY MAY 11
BALACAZAR & SORDO, HUMAN LIFE & MORE
THE STANDARD. LOS ANGELES
From Mex to L>A locals, Sunday fun day’s DJ game is on 1,0000….
Yes, I’m asking you to go to the Standard twice in a row. :)
“After taking a lengthy time off from City of Angels to host a few parties on the other side of Atlantic and kicking back some time in the hummock by the beach under Mediterranean sun, CapsuleM crew is back home, and can't wait to see you all soon again.
For the season opening, we have got two solid names whose highly-praised unique styles will perfectly blend with the buoyant Sunday afternoon mood of the Rooftop/pool.
So, please welcome Miguel Puente (Los Angeles debut) who is surely one of most important names in the scene Mexico has to offer along with Balcazar & Sordo whose DJ sets and productions are always top-notch and refreshing. The additional support to the vibe will be coming from local heavyweights; Human Life and CapsuleM’s own Elwan.” -CapsuleM Crew
MIGUEL PUENTE (Hot Waves, No.19, Akbal Music – MEX)
Despite being relatively at a young age, releasing from industry titans the likes of Hot Waves, No.19, Diynamic raised Miguel to a well-deserved spot in the scene. By looking at his success at such a young age it is not so hard to predict that he is here to stay and we all hear his name more often in coming years.
BALCAZAR & SORDO (Get Physical, No.19, Culprit – MEX)
After many years of DJing and producing solo or in other partnerships, Gabriel and Marco decided to join their heads together and see what would happen. The results have been huge! In just a year they have released on some of the best house labels of today, their tracks being played all over the world by some of the most respected DJs in the scene.
HUMAN LIFE (Hot Creations, Defected – LA)
Having releases from Hot Creations, Defected; Human Life’s sound combines the best of the underground and the overground without contriteness or awkwardness. Guardian UK mentioned him as “If Prince and David Gahan had a baby in Paris in 1990, that child might now be making music like this"
ELWAN (CapsuleM – LA)
Elwan is CapsuleM’s resident & co-founder with creative inspiration from both, East and West. His sound has evolved into a delicate twist with influences from Deep House, Tech House to Nu Disco/ Indie Dance. He has shared stages with numerous international talents including Dixon, Audiofly, Daniel Bortz, Doc Martin, Deniz Kurtel, Amirali, Adultnapper, Till von Sein, and many more.
