MIGHTYKAT of Montreal playing U.R ART Festival
Summertime leads to outdoor day parties. But what is better than just a basic day party? A music, interactive arts, innovative fashion and food festival. Putting the “art” in party this new edition summer series will go down in Santa Monica this Sunday funday.
One day three DJ friends shared a particularly inspiring afternoon together and the brainchild U.R. ART festival was born. You may know Rob Garza from Thievery Corporation, Philipp Jung with M.A.N.D.Y./Get Physical Music, and John Wander from Roam Music, this dream team is a powerhouse of music festival know-how. Together they came to the conclusion that the sunny westside of LA, where Wander resides, would be the ideal setting for this meeting of musical minds. They envisioned an outdoor day party where they could soak in the sunshine while dancing to the sweet melodies on the deeper side of house and techno. Next came the challenge of finding the prime spot and, after months of searching, this baby landed at Santa Monica's eclectic Bergamot Station Arts Center. Philipp gazed upon the scene of funky, industrial art galleries and proclaimed, "You Are Art" and thus, the U.R. Art Music Festival became a reality.
Bask in sexy sophisticated house beats this weekend while browsing the impressive booths for handmade swag.
SIDENOTE: Happy Gay Pride Week Los Angeles! This one goes out to all to the whole LGBT community! With out you all this whole electronic music thing never would have happened. Peace!

Some serious FUNK-shui…
Those funky lads from L.A’s institution, FUNKMOSPHERE come in smoldering hot once again. This time welcoming ELECTRIC WIRE HUSTLE from New Zealand.

The music of EWH reaches forward while referencing key points of music’s past. Thick drums and percussion layered with synth lines, hints of Fender Rhodes and nylon stringed guitars have your neck snapping while your ear cranes to the evocative vocals of Mara TK…” BBE

D I A L O G U E
ATISH [ Listed, SF ]
San Francisco-based Atish is rising quickly in the international dance music scene. Raised in the Chicago suburbs and schooled in the hard sciences to become a computer engineer, Atish's left-brained technical precision complement his sensitive, emotional approach to sound.
Atish describes his style as expressive melodic deep house: music that sings to the soul while moving the dance floor, communicating the joy of love, the depths of darkness, and intensity of a spiritual dance music journey for himself and anyone listening. Energized by the relationship between DJ and dancefloor, Atish is known for his quirky stage persona, donning costumes, wigs, and even a wedding dress during gigs. But don't let the free wheeling expression fool you - Atish is a disciplined artist with an unhealthy obsession for technical and artistic perfection.
DEEP JESUS [ Desert Hearts, SD ]
HEIDI LAWDEN [ Locussolus, LA ]
MD [ The Basement, LA ]
