There has been conformation that a man suffering from a throat injury on Saturday night and a death on Sunday night were not related, according to an email sent from Electric Forest Press.

On Saturday night, news broke across multiple social media channels that a man had been seen on festival grounds covered in blood with a severe throat injury. According to Electric Forest, this man was "treated and very much alive."

The festival has not released an official statement as to what caused the man's injuries, and only confirmed that the wound did not involve hammock wire as some reports have speculated.  Other sources are indicating that the wound might have been self inflicted, but there has been no official confirmation at this time.

In a completely unrelated incident, 20 year old Brian Brokette passed away late Sunday night at the festival. The cause of death is unknown, and now pending toxicology reports.

In a press release, the Michigan State Police said:

The Michigan State Police Hart Post and the Oceana County Medical Examiner’s Office are waiting for the results of an autopsy conducted on Brian Alan Brockette, a 20 year old Caledonia Michigan man. The victim suffered a medical emergency on Sunday, June 29th 2014 at approximately 11:15 PM and subsequently passed away. The victim was a volunteer for an outside vendor at the Electric Forest Festival. The incident remains under investigation by the Michigan State Police.

The Oceana County Medical Examiners Office will complete their investigation after they receive the final autopsy report. Questions about the medical response are to be directed to the Electric Forest festival promoters who contracted for medical services. The final autopsy report will be sent to the Oceana County Medical Examiners Office, questions concerning those results should be directed to their office.

Electric Forest is an annual event held at the Double JJ Resort near Rothbury, Michigan. This year, the three day festival took place June 26th-29th.
