One day on a party boat drifting under the golden gate bridge, a younger more punk rock me was lucky enough to fall in love with a new sound of music I had never heard before. That was my first Sunset boat party experience and one of the main DJs behind it, the infamous SOLAR draws on influences from the traditional deep and funky sounds of SF, the futuristic techno-soul of Detroit, and the jacking tracks of Chicago. Catch his set at our July 20th UR ART event at Bergamot Station in Santa Monica.
If any of you were lucky enough to catch the first portion of the UR ART summer series, then you know it was a truly magical event and this Sunday is going to be one for the books with a lineup we love. Learn more.

“Quality music is born from the soul but gifted life through the gathering of like-minded people on the dance floor, giving wings to friendship and feelings to thought. Every Saturday at Exchange, good music and good memories bloom. This is the Inception of something beautiful.”
VonStroke created dirtybird records in 2005 and has been running everything from A&R to daily operations ever since. The name "Claude VonStroke" was a joke that caught on after he released a series of quirky tracks under the moniker in order to help kick start the dirtybird label. Since 2005, dirtybird has carved out a niche as a premiere American dance imprint and has released over 70 EPs. The label is mostly known for dirty house music with distinct hip-hop, funk and drum 'n bass influences.
Tour wise, Claude has headlined almost every major club, festival and basement after-party in the world. The outdoor dirtybird parties in San Francisco’s scenic Golden Gate Park have also become a legendary summer destination point for both locals and international travelers.
SUNDAY JULY 20
UR ART FESTIVAL
BERGAMOT STATION. SANTA MONICA
Rob Garza of Thievery Corporation, Philipp Jung of M.A.N.D.Y. and Roam Music's John Wander proudly present:
The U.R. ART Music Festival is a day party event held at Bergamot Station each month during the Summer of 2014 that brings together the best music, food, fashion, art, and sustainability for a full day of dancing under the Santa Monica sun. It goes from
1-10pm and grows to include additional visual art installations, dedicated activity area for kids, improved stage designs, and a Funktion 1 system - all 100% solar-powered by Jeff Murrell's ECOBOOM project.
Providing the soundtrack to our July 20th experience, Montreal-based Guillaume Coutu-Dumont travels to LA to headline U.R. ART with music that lends itself to the indigo hue of dusk, imbued with the sultry allure of jazz, the unquestioned groove of house, and the propulsion of techno. One of SF’s most beloved, Solar brings the Pacific Sound of San Francisco's legendary Sunset parties, as one devoted to the art of mixing and selecting, without regard to ephemeral fashion, trends or fads. Having played in over 40 countries across the 5 continents, Asadinho pays us a rare visit with a deep soulful funky driving set supported by Roam Music purveyor John Wander, Voodoo, Grand Park, and Gypset's main curator Eduardo Castillo, and the Bystander's local legend Sean Patrick.
Serpent+Stag and Club Called Rhonda curate U.R. ART's fashion tent and host a small community of designers including vintage collectors Trash Bag Diaries, Flynn Skye Clothing and a unisex kids collection from Jules.
Los Angeles-based muralist Ivo Vergara and Mario Arteaga curate the art experience and will be live-painting at the July 20th event. Stay tuned on information about a silent auction to own pieces produced at our July 20th event.
A portion of ticket proceeds will be used to benefit CoachArt, a non-profit improving the quality of life for chronically ill children & their families by providing free lessons in the arts and athletics.
