Our friends over at MSA Productions really know how to pick the perfect parties this weekend in the Bay!
As with every weekend in San Francisco, there is a lot to do to have great time no matter what you’re into. But this weekend looks especially nice for house and techno heads. Not only will the music be a world-class standard, but the parties don’t stop until Sunday evening.
Coming from Berlin with an established reputation worldwide, Phonique headlines tonight at Monarch with a long discography under his belt, stretching all the way back to 2001. Although 2001 was a long time ago and most people called any track with a 4/4 beat “techno” indiscriminately, there’s no question that Phonique has his mixing down to a science, and it’s hard to say no to any Berliner coming out to the city for some fun. Throughout his career he has spun a wide variety of styles, but recently he has been on the deeper side of things. Also, this is going until 4:00am so it’s a great place to start or end the night.
If straight techno is more of your thing, or if you’re ambitious and want to make the most out of your weekend (as you should be), Direct to Earth is the spot of the night.
Detroit’s Luke Hess (DeepLabs, FXHE, Echocord) returns for his second set in the city with the DTE collective, so expect some one-of-a-kind techno grooves from him.
DTE is also bringing out Dimi Angélis from Amsterdam, credited as one of the innovators of the Amsterdam techno underground. He’s been in the scene for over 10 years and done live electronic sets as well as DJing. Known for being unpredictable and playing exactly what he wants to hear, Dimi is guaranteed to bring a memorable experience for his first set with Direct to Earth.

On Saturday, Pier 70 has the music on lock with 2 stages for Summersalt 2015. Currently only VIP tickets are still available, get them while they last. Headliners are Salva, Keys N Krates, G-Eazy, The Gaslamp Killer, and Big Gigantic. A nice change of pace from the house and techno overtaking the majority of the weekend, and as a daytime, all-ages event, it has more to offer for everyone.
We did a write-up about this event to come last week, but we’re so excited about it that we need to mention it again. Sunday’s starting off right with this pool party at The Phoenix Hotel. Starting off with the Lights Down Low Crew, DJ Dials, Richie Panic, and Corey Sizemore are gonna get the vibes right for Tiger & Woods and Dam Funk.
The Dirtybird BBQ definitely deserves more than an honorable mention, but it sold out already. So we can just consider this an obligatory “Yes! Dirtybird at Treasure Island!” Post. This year, the crew launched the BBQ in a nationwide tour fashion, while previously it was exclusive to San Francisco. On the decks this weekend are Claude Von Stroke, Justin Martin, J. Phlip, Christian Martin, Worthy, and special guests. Also, free BBQ!
