Chart: Best Electro & Progressive House Music 2014- Week 38

Summer is past us but the new electro and progressive house music keeps coming, and TomorrowWorld and Halloween festivals are right around the corner. In the top spot, we've got Laidback Luke protege D.O.D who really changed up his sound on his first release on Hysteria Records. He's closely followed by a 19-year French producer that's quickly making his name, and a banger from an old favorite that I discovered at Electric Zoo. Let's do this!

1. "Pop Pop" D.O.D, Hysteria Records

D.O.D returns with a fresh release on Bingo Players' record label. Dan O'Donnell really steps out of his recent comfort zone with an adrenaline rush of pure electro energy that will make your head pop! Out now.

2. "The Dance Floor is Yours" (Merzo Remix) Hardwell & W&W
Meet Merzo, a 19-year old producer from France who's already received big support from Hardwell and Tiesto. He first caught my attention with this electro track that pushes the big room sound to the limit, taking an already massive collab and pumping even more raw energy out of the drop. Out now.

3. "Resistance" Knife Party, Earstorm
I remember freaking out when Knife Party dropped this stage-destroyer at Electric Zoo 2014. The drop will make you move your feet with its addictive electro melody. Out now.

4. "Bonk!" Lazy Rich & Hot Mouth, Spinnin' Records

Lazy Rich continues the trend of electro producers dipping into the Melbourne bounce sound. Teaming up with Hot Mouth, Rich assembles an intro reminiscent of Daft Punk before unleashing the drop from down under. Out October 6th.

5. "We Are The Ones" twoloud feat. Christian Burns, Musical Freedom

Twoloud once again diverts their production talents away from the electro style and brings it to bear on a masterful progressive track with indie-style vocals by Burns. An uplifting track. I think I'll queue this one up for my end of day playlist for tomorrow. Out now.

6. "That's What's Up" Bass Kleph, Hysteria Records

It's nice to see Bass Kleph, who I first heard about and featured on my chart back in February, return to this chart with noticeable leaps forward in production ability. This is a medium-energy track that makes me march forward to the beat. Out now.

7. "Rude" (Zedd Remix) Magic!
Zedd returns with a potent progressive remix of the popular vocal tune by Magic! The synth leads are powerful and I've gotta give props on the dubstep-like vocal wubs at the end of the drop. Out now.

8. "Blame" (Bassanova Remix) Calvin Harris Ft. John Newman
Bassanova proves he's one to watch with this expert progressive rework of the hugely popular Calvin Harris song. He beautifully preserves John Newman's vocals where appropriate, then launches into heavy-hitting big room synths. Available now as a free download via the SoundCloud stream below.

9. "ID2" Dimitri Vangelis & Wyman, Size Records

A funky yet captivating melody carries this track from subtle intro, to build, to the drop. Another progressive house masterpiece cultivated by Steve Angello partners in crime Vangelis and Wyman. Out September 22nd.

10. "Old Skool" ALVARO & Van Dalen, Doorn Records

You've gotta love Alvaro's dual mastery of intro melodies and electro drops. It's the glitchy, distorted sound of the drop synths and drums that set this track apart from the typical big roomer. The glitched out vocal drops give it an extra subtle flair. Out September 29th.
