The Best in the Bay! SF Event Guide [10/3 - 10/5]

Bay Areaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaa! Sup? It's that time again, it's that quitting time and forgetting all about that week thing. Our boys and girls over at MSA productions done picked some good ones. Oh man, what a fun week we had though with that Red Bull Music Academy Culture Clash! Big ups to triple threat, much love to all the competitors, and to my beloved birds of the dirty variety, we're still here for you!

Summer may have subsided and the bikinis may be back in the closet, but the city nightlife is strong as ever, especially after the momentum from last night's Red Bull Music Academy Culture Clash at the Regency Center. This first-time event in San Francisco featured 4 of the city's biggest music collectives: Dirtybird, Tormenta Tropical, Dub Mission, and Triple Threat DJs, which provide a wide spectrum of bassy and creative music and have also created local subcultures. For all who were unable to make it, worry not because this weekend has a lot of great local and international talent.

1.) The Underground Presents: Malik Mustache, Jackanapes Grensta & AFox

First up this week is a pre-opening event at a new venue in the East Bay, and it's on our list because we know Vital won't disappoint. Berkeley Underground, the name of the new spot, has the Brazilian DJ-Duo Malik Mustache headlining. They push a self-proclaimed G-House sound, which will end the night nicely after a lineup full of local DJs deeply involved in the Bay Area scene: Jackanapes (Temple Music Group), Grensta (MSA/Mass Records UK), and A Fox (Blockhead Ent./SJBC). Overall, expect many flavors of house, from the deeper grooves to bouncy, techy-ness.

2.) Lights Down Low SF Featuring Shadowchild

The Lights Down Low crew is staying consistent with their great taste in guests as always, this time bringing in Shadow Child from Food Music. This UK-native began creating a buzz in 2012 with his debut Dirtybird release, "String Thing." The EP got playtime worldwide and Shadow Child has continued to make himself known through international touring and releases on multiple labels. Playing in support are Richie Panic and J. Milla & Trevor Young.

4.) Monarch & Common Grounds Present: Joyce Muniz, Tom Flynn, DJ M3, Joey Alaniz

Monarch is giving us a huge treat on Saturday, two huge names that are no strangers to some of the world's biggest party locations. Joyce Muniz, one of the most famous female DJs, is coming by to headline during her Brazil/USA tour. Born in Brazil and raised in Austria, Joyce has been spinning since 16 years old, being influenced by the electronic music scene in Vienna in the 90s. Her original productions and DJ sets range from deep and intimate to fully-crackin', and we can expect the latter tonight.

Also on the bill is Tom Flynn, known for his releases on Dirtybird, Hot Creations, Circus records, and more. His productions receive constant play by the likes of Carl Cox and Jamie Jones, and Pete Tong has awarded him as "best breakthrough producer." In support are DJ M3 and Joey Alaniz.
