This is one of our favorite consumer headphones to come out this year, the elegant Urbanite XL. Its great for the DJ / Music producer that want’s great sound and incredible comfort in a headphone that is meant for leisure listening. As we all know DJs/Producers are incredibly fussy about sound quality and the Urbanite XL reproduces dance music incredibly well. It’s got a great well rounded sound with great bass that is not overdone, but just right. You might just want these for yourself after you try them on. ($249)
IK Multimedia has just dropped their new portable midi controller called the iRig Pads. Check our full review of the iRig Pads. ($150)
Keith McMillen Instruments makes some pretty serious and innovative gear and the QuNeo is no exception. This midi controller is more for the serious producer or DJ that is really trying to take their performance to the next level. It’s fully mapable, super light and compact and is sensitive to gesture in 3 dimensions. This one is for the more established and serious DJ or producer. ($249)
This is a great albeit luxurious accessory for the QuNeo midi controller. The Rogue allows you to go wireless with the controller while performing or even in the studio. Now this is really for the professional artist or at the very least someone who is really playing out a lot. The ability to be wireless during a performance is a big deal for artists that are moving around a lot and is really unique with the QuNeo x Rogue combo. So if you have a more serious DJ/Producer to shop for, this is pretty quite the upgrade to any QuNeo kit. ($399)
For many new school DJs the idea of spinning with in ear headphones is quite common and Pioneer is definitely one of the companies leading the way with two professional grade models (DJE-1500 and the DJE-2000s). These buds are designed specifically with DJs in mind with their construction, fit and sound reproduction — a little more bass in the place if you dig please. The DJE-1500s and 2000s vary quite a bit on price, but if you can afford it go for the 2000s as they are definitely a step-up. If your DJ is still in the bedroom phase of their career the 1500s should do just fine. ($159 / $300)
