Paul van Dyk’s new track Guardian is pure trance. But whether or not you’re a trance person, it feels great to just stop and breathe for a second.
There’s no big drop here, no catchy hook and no progression. It’s that good old stuff that doesn’t pick up for a good two minutes into the track. The subdued melody is only here to set the atmosphere and blend with Sue McLaren’s soothing vocals. There's no vanity to be found.
Guardian is euphoria without the mania. It’s a throwback to a time before Facebook and smartphones and is far removed from commercialization. The isolation couldn't be more comforting. Take that societally-induced ADD! Download it Friday.
