Perhaps the (Great) Godfather of EDM, Giorgio Moroder is still very much alive. At age 74, he's got an upcoming album and just released his second single with Kylie Minogue - Right Here Right Now. Oh when world's collide.
Moroder was a big influence on Daft Punk's latest album Random Access Memories. The track "Giorgio by Moroder" on that album essentially introduced the legend to our younger generation. By his own accord, he is the "oldest living DJ in the world."
His upcoming album 74 is the New 24 has already revealed its space funk title track, but "Right Here, Right Now" is where the real fun begins. A young soul herself, Kylie Minogue gives the track a legitimately modern pop flare while retaining the analogue synths that have made Moroder a legend.
Moroder's re-emergence in the pop game doesn't end with Minogue either. The producer still has tracks coming from his new album that will feature Britney Spears, Sia, Charli XCX, Mikky Ekko, Foxes, Matthew Koma and more.
You can pick up both singles from 74 is the New 24 on iTunes. Moroder also released a pretty spectacular remix for Coldplay's "Midnight" last year which is also available on iTunes. And he has a free download available on Soundcloud. Yes, it's officially cool to like Moroder again, but quite frankly, it always has been.
