This Lana Del Rey track is nominated for a Golden Globe, but we'll take the BlackGummy. The LA producer puts on a show driving the gorgeous Lana Del Rey track through a flurry of neon black synths, giving the track a renewed sense of power.
Del Rey pours a ton of soul into the original which could easily be interpreted as a Broadway performance, and a great one at that. But now, instead of taking front stage, she's taking the road less traveled. And what doesn't kill her only makes her stronger. She told Billboard that her new album Honeymoon will be more "noirish", and this remix takes any dark vibe well off the deep end.
"Big Eyes" is the title track to Tim Burton's upcoming movie which would explain all the atmosphere. The film tells the story of Margaret Keane, a painter in the 60s who struggles with her husband to gain credit for her work. Lana Del Ray does a great job of musically recreating the struggle, but BlackGummy's created the vengeance. BlackGummy described his influence for the remix in a Facebook post which included a twisted redux of "Big Eyes" film footage.
