Without any singles or recognition, a guy you never heard of has landed himself on major lineups, in front of massive crowds, and on a Spinnin contract for $500,000. Did we mention deadmau5 is tweeting about him too?
So how did this happen? How did this random guy attain all this without anything to show for it? He didn't.
We break it all down for you in this step-by-step guide so you too can follow in the footsteps of the great EDM catfish, D&H Spinnin Noize:
1. Create a slick name that's quick off the tongue.
Six syllables or more will work just fine.
On board yet? We hope not.
2. Photoshop your name on everything from lineups to record contracts.
Be modest as to not attract too much attention. A second tier headliner will do.
What happened to Adam Beyer?
3. Make sure people know you're legit by sharing photos of a Lamborghini.
If people don't make the connection, write up a fake contract that says you will be paid $500,000.
Facebook comment puts it best: "Dude, that's Vitaly Zdorovetskiy!"
4. Take photos from other artists performing in front of huge crowds... then post them as your own.
Only use someone like Afrojack if they're out of focus.
D&H performing at our very own festival...
5. Don't sweat the details (like language) or waste too much time on this.
People will believe anything they see on Facebook. This will allow you to spend time on your real job, or looking for one.
Just pick a number... any number.
Bonus: If it all goes to plan you will soon be featured on very real Twitter profiles and music blogs (from deadmau5 to Magnetic)... ... dammit.
So how do you sign a Spinnin Contract for $500,000? Make it all up. Simply open up Word and type it out, sign it, and use some photos of other people. You won't receive any money because it's all very fake, but you will expose the sheer gullibility of thousands. And that is something that's very real.
Maybe we're all just being trolled by some great experiment, but either way, it's actually pretty amusing to roll through the D&H photos and play "who is the photo really from". Have a look.
