Apollo Twin Wins TEC Award At NAMM 2015

Universal Audio Does It Again, Folks.

Thanks to the Mbox, the gap between analogue and digital sound had finally been closed... if you didn’t mind shelling out $800 at the time to do so. The technology has caught up, and as I look longingly into the eyes of my Lexicon Alpha (the tricycle of audio interfaces), I find myself thinking of another box.... the Twin. If you haven't heard yet, the Apollo Twin won a TEC award at this year's NAMM expo, that's a big deal considering the thing's more than a year old!

-New Unison™ technology for stunning models of classic mic preamps

-Thunderbolt connection for blazing-fast PCIe speed on modern Macs
-2 premium mic/line preamps; 2 line outs; front-panel Hi-Z instrument input and headphone output
-Digitally controlled analog monitor outputs for full resolution at all listening levels
-Uncompromising analog design, superior components, and premium build quality throughout

The specs are juicy, but what do they mean?

While the bit depth is not as high as we’ve seen on say, the C510 module, it’s enough to get the job done in any type professional or casual setting. 192kHz is impressive for any interface, so you can expect to hear crystal sound on playback. The “Realtime Analog Classics” UAD Bundle is a collection of analog emulations for your computer ranging from equalizers, to stereo imagers and mastering platforms. The design’s simple, it’s a 2 input (audio line and instrument), 6 output (2 mics, 4 audio out), with one knob to control the parameters.

Basically, this thing’s a beast. If you’re a new artist who wants to easily transfer your ideas into compositions, or a professional recording artist, the Apollo Twin is what you need. Universal Audio has never let us down, and the Twin is no exception. With the TEC award in-hand, they assure that the Twin is the next step for producers everywhere.
